Debra Kamenir

Debra Kamenir was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. Inspired by her mother, Claire, she acquired a love for singing and dancing from the time she was a little girl. It was in the choir of Temple Ramat Zion, some 40 years ago, that she and Claire began singing in Maestra Noreen Green’s choir, wherein a friendship developed between Debra and Noreen that has lasted to this day. Debra still sings in Noreen’s various choirs as often as she can. She also has appeared alongside her husband (acclaimed pianist, accompanist, composer and arranger, David Kamenir) performing medleys and duets with such groups as “The Pierce College Community Choir” and “The Encore Singers”, oftentimes choreographing her own routines. Due to her background in Ballet and Jazz, Debra also choreographs and sings with “Happy Notes”, a Harmony Group led by Kim Levett, that performs regularly at “The Jewish Home For The Aging” as well as various other venues throughout the Valley and Los Angeles. Debra received her music education by majoring in music at Pierce College and currently studies voice under the tutelage of acclaimed voice teacher, Tova Morcos. When not dancing or singing, you’ll find her styling hair in her private hair salon in Tarzana. Debra is thrilled to be performing in VOPA’S production of “Fiddler On The Roof”.
